Kolibrí is a unique multicultural, free and open art festival for the most diverse, plurilingual and intergenerational audiences. On this 5th anniversary of Kolibrí we will travel to the AMAZONIA, the heart of the World. We’ll get to know and be amazed by its biodiversity, the variety of its indigenous communities and their ancestral knowledge and cultures.

Concert – MeNiños, Multilingual Children’s Music Concert

Welcome to this interactive and multilingual children’s music concert! MeNiños explores the sounds of the harp, guitar and percussion with music and rhythms from diverse countries and voices singing in multiple languages: Spanish, English, Finnish and Portuguese. MeNiños is a free-entrance concert.

Dance Workshop – Amazon Joy

Sensory Experimentation Workshop – Playing with the Senses

Have you ever imagined what your life would be like if you had to live without one of your senses, like your sight? In this workshop, participants will experiment with their senses. Children and adults will take turns in the role of guide and blind person, learning to accomplish tasks without using their sight. The teachers will also explain how to provide clear guidance to help blind people move in a safe way.

Science Workshop – The Rain Theater

Water, coming from the abundant rains in the rainforest, is the blood that circulates in the Amazon, the heart of the world. In this workshop, children and adults will learn the science of cloud formation and rain making through storytelling, art and sensory experiences. Register and join us!

In “Muistan sinua rakkaudella”, Finnish grieving meets the colorful and communal Mexican Día de Muertos tradition. The writers will talk about their creative process and their role in developing children’s literature in Finland through diversity. There will also be a question and answer session and opportunities for purchasing the book and getting it signed. Don’t miss it!

Visual Arts Workshop – A Particular Amazon Species

Do you dare create a fantastic sculpture inspired by your favorite Amazon animals? Itzel will guide us through the fascinating world of “alebrijes”. Typical of Mexico, this technique of cardboard construction will allow us to create fantastic imaginary creatures by combining elements of several different animals, in a mixture of color and detail. A modeling dough that dries quickly will be used, allowing us time to paint our sculptures. We will learn about and be inspired by birds and other animals from the Amazon.

Since 2016, Kulttuurikeskus Ninho has been promoting a program to encourage reading in childhood and the diversification of books in public libraries from the HelMet System, in Spanish and Portuguese. The project is supported by the Embassies of Ibero-America in Finland and the Ibero-American Institute.

Eva Wilenius, service manager for the Espoo city libraries, will receive the books from Pablo Porro, Ambassador of Uruguay to Finland.
