Juoiggas Mánážan! – Yoik, child!

Saturday, September 27, 2025 - Annantalo - 11:00 AM

The Sámi culture is coming to Kolibrí Festivaali for the first time! Sámi artist Petra Biret Magga-Vars and her daughters bring us a wonderful activity where we will discover the traditional Sámi yoik!

As Petra tells us: “Joik is not singing, but describing an object, person, animal, place or event through melody and sound. We want to share an interactive moment where yoik is the focus. Through Sámi songs we will also learn the Sámi language”.

Let's yoik animals, people and learn easy phrases in Northern Sámi. A unique experience you can't miss!

This activity is possible thanks to the support by the Finnish Cultural Foundation.
