The band Machu Picchu was formed in Stockholm, Sweden, in the early 1980s and had a great reception during their tour in the Nordic countries. They also garnered a lot of attention in Finland, especially in the capital, Helsinki, where the band eventually settled.

Machu Picchu, now celebrating its 30th anniversary, continues its series of concerts, courses, and workshops that have taken the band to various locations in Finland over the decades, including television and recordings. A variety of instruments and rhythms introduce listeners to the different variations and nuances of Latin American cultures, especially Andean cultures.
