Trio Mandeng

Trio Mandeng represents both national and international virtuosity in West African acoustic music. Born out of a desire to combine the skills of three accomplished professionals, the ensemble brings together artists whose roots run deep. Adama “Machine” Kone grew into musicianship as a member of a Malian-Burkinabe musical family. Mohamed “Kanyasoli” Bangoura grew into musicianship in the cultural districts of Kindia, Guinea. Maarika “La Lingeer” Autio received traditional balafon training in Dakar, a rare privilege for a non-native and is currently preparing her doctoral dissertation at the Sibelius Academy’s Global Music Department. Together, their melodies have plenty of space to seduce listeners into the timeless charm of Mande art. Children of the third culture and their families are at the heart of everything they do.
