We are delighted to present the Guest Theatre Company of Kolibrí 2024! 👏🏾
Its name is O Som do Algodão, and it’s a theatre company for the early childhood founded in Portugal, in 2012, by the Portuguese artists Dulce Moreira and Mariana Santos. Two women, a musician and a storyteller, who find new ways to share art, the plasticity of words and soundscapes with babies, children and families.
After more than a decade of work, the collective has developed nearly 30 theater pieces, promoting the discovery of literature, words, sound and sensory exploration. Each play is a creative space for families to share.
Who is behind O Som do Algodão?
Dulce Moreira (PT) combines musical activities in preschool and hospital contexts with music therapy and psycho pedagogy. She also develops artistic workshops for children and adults, as well as training for adults. She uses her studies in Special Education and her artistic experience to create educational artistic projects designed to include everyone in the creative process.
On the other hand, actress Mariana Santos (PT) has been participating in numerous plays and collective projects for almost 20 years with companies such as Dentro Teatro and Serviços Educativo do Teatro do Bolhão. She studied Journalism and, within the artistic project O Som do Algodão, she is responsible for dramaturgy and theatrical performance. She also works with adults and children in developing skills in written and dramatic expression.
