INDABA is a warm-hearted children's performance that explores the rich tapestry of Afro-Finnish identities through music, dance, and storytelling. How does it feel to be Finnish, African, or both? Who tells our stories best?
Derived from the isiZulu word for a meeting or a meaningful discussion, INDABA invites you to experience a vibrant merge of bamboo flute grooves, Tanzanian rhythms and a taste of South African amapiano and solos on voice, trombone, flutes, timbila, percussion, and dance. The performers speak and sing in Finnish, English, Kiswahili and Kisumbwa.
Inspired by the book “Third Culture Kids”, this performance celebrates diversity and fluidity and encourages each person to tell their own story in their own way. Let’s have an indaba!
