Wende Luvinga is an international development professional and passionate about promoting reading for children and advocating for diversity in children's literature. She is an author; her stories are inspired by African storytelling and folktales. Wende leads a reading group for children with a focus on children's stories in Kiswahili. In the past years, she has read her stories at the World Village Festival, schools and libraries, in order to promote and celebrate diversity among children. Wende is from Tanzania but lives in Helsinki with her family.
Her last project has been writing "Kokonainen minä" (Otavan Kirjapaino Oy, 2024) with the association Familia. This children’s book, illustrated by Noora Ketolainen and Maryam Abuzaid-Ryu, aims to give voice to the Finnish multicultural children.
