Ayla Brinkmann (she/they) is a Finnish-South African musician and performer currently studying in the Global Music Programme at Sibelius Academy. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in literature from the University of Jyväskylä, leads the Shameless Shongololo Band and is an active member in the afrobeat collective Frankosun & The Family.

Ayla’s artistic work is rooted in play (as in leikki), interdisciplinary approaches and intersectionality. Her latest work is the performance INDABA, where she develops facilitator, composer, and performer roles.
