Sini is a librarian and shadow puppet practitioner from Espoo. She was introduced to shadow puppetry while living in Portugal and really perfected her art at the Art Academy in Turku. She further honed her skills at the Teatro Gioconda Vita theatre in Italy. Currently Sini is working as a speciality librarian with Espoos travelling libraries, some of which she pilots herself! She has brought her shadow puppetry into the libraries, working with both children and seniors on a series of drama and puppet workshops.
David is one of the creators of Kolibrí. He is from Spain. His artistic job began in the Entresse library back in 2013 when he started a gymnastic group in Spanish for parents and children, “Jumpataan espanjaksi”, on a voluntary basis. He currently works in the Espoo mobile library where much of his efforts go to organizing activities for children. Besides, he is one of the founders and teacher of the training center Art Zenter.
Kolibrí festivals have been organized in Espoo for 3 years now in collaboration with the HELMET library system. The bilingual, Spanish-Finnish, shadow puppet performance ‘pikku Kolibri Napo’ was born in 2015, the first year of Kolibrí festival’s joint production with the Espoo mobile library Välkky. The piece was adapted and performed by Sini and David.
The new upcoming shadow puppet performance for next summer’s Kolibri festival ‘My mother is a porcupine’ is based on the Argentinian writer Isol Misenta’s picture book ‘Secreto de familia’.
