Let’s celebrate Finland’s 100th anniversary to the rhythm of polka. Polka? Yes, the same that arrived to the American countries and Finland in the 1840s. On both sides of the Atlantic the dance was modified. Nowadays, its variations are part of the folklore of many countries. Welcome to this musical and dance journey. Don’t forget to bring a big skirt to make it fly.

How has Helsinki been over these last 100 years and how will it be from today onwards? Together with grandparents, their memories and a little imagination we will build that city of the past and the future. Welcome to build a piece of art, look at the changes of the city and dream about its future!

Let’s put color and wings to the imagination! Bring your own t-shirt and you’ll be able to stamp Kolibri’s logo on it! You can also create your own pin. Then, you can decorate and paint it in family.

We’ll use music, movement and play to strengthen the bond between the caretaker and the child. We’ll do this by giving them the chance to learn new songs and activities that they can practice later on at home. We will sing Latin-American songs in Spanish, native tongues, and Finnish.

14:00 Secreto de Familia – Storytelling and Graphic Workshop and Take Your Selfie.

Each family has its own quirks, especially at 7:00 in the morning. What is this family’s secret? Isol Misenta’s story, with intelligent and fresh humor, steals a smile from us. After the narration, who will be willing to draw their family secret? Come and enjoy this crazy multilingual marathon! Based on the children’s book “Secreto de Familia” by Isol Misenta (ALMA Prize 2013).

“I am Nena and I have a family secret…” How would you feel if you woke up early in the morning and found a peculiar spiny creature in the kitchen? This is what happens in this bilingual shadow theatre performance, based on the illustrated book by Isol Misenta; we will spy into the sleepy morning of this family.

  • Recommended age: children over 4 years and their families.
  • Languages: Finnish and Spanish.
  • Length: approximately 20 minutes.

Let’s celebrate Finland’s 100th anniversary and friendship in a musical trip around the World, where we will make new friends and have an unforgettable moment. We guarantee musical surprises along with those contained inside piñatas. After such an adventure, there will be delicious snacks to replenish our energy. You can’t miss it, just bring your party clothes!

  • Musical voyage (45 min)The sounds of harp, kora, balafon, saxophone and bansuri flute will guide us in a cross-cultural journey inspired by Latin American and West African music  as well as featuring experimental improvised sounds.
