11:00 Oppening Shadow theatre – Family Secret

“I am Nena and I have a family secret…” How would you feel if you woke up early in the morning and found a peculiar spiny creature in the kitchen? This is what happens in this bilingual shadow theatre performance, based on the illustrated book by Isol Misenta; we will spy into the sleepy morning of this family.

  • Recommended age: children over 4 years and their families.
  • Languages: Finnish and Spanish.
  • Length: approximately 20 minutes.

Let’s use music, movement and play to strengthen the bond between the caretaker and the child. We’ll do this by giving them the chance to learn new songs and activities that they can practice later on at home. We will sing Latin-American songs in Spanish, native tongues, and Finnish.

The children of Helsinki have grown up climbing trees and hiding behind them, hanging a hammock or bird house from them, having a picnic or even taking a nap under a tree’s shadow. Welcome to play and create an art piece to celebrate the forest of Helsinki and friendship. It is a forest where we all fit, in which each piece is unique and essential, like each one of us.

Let’s celebrate  Finland’s 100th anniversary to the rhythm of polka. Polka? Yes, the same that arrived to the American countries and Finland in the 1840s. On both sides of the Atlantic the dance was modified. Nowadays, its variations are part of the folklore of many countries. Welcome to this musical and dance journey. Don’t forget to bring a big skirt to make it fly.

Welcome to experience the traditional Andean wisdom while playing! Based on the Inka Culture’s forms of design, Tokapu is a mathematical puzzle for children and adults. In this workshop everyone is invited to combine colourful geometrical symbols that will form wonderful patterns in the style of the Inca Culture. Welcome to play and experiment the traditional Andean knowledge!
